The Mall of America Apple Store (Bloomington, Minnesota) will be closed for renovation from Oct 6th through Nov 11th.
Since this Apple Store has some of the largest foot traffic and sales of all the stores, I'm doubtful that it would be left out of a Panther debut. This would tend to indicate a Panther release no earlier than mid-November.
Of course, the local hoopla could be shifted to the Southdale Apple Store (yes, we are blessed with 2 Apple Stores within 15 minutes of each other here in the Twin Cities!), but that (much smaller) store and mall would crumple under the impact of something as big as the Panther debut (assuming that it approaches the mania achieved with Jaguar at the Mall of America; which was truly spectacular).
When you add to this mix the fact that Apple has yet to announce the date of the event, which logic tends to indicate would take place a month or more after the announcement, my thinking is that Panther will not be released until late November - perhaps the Saturday before Thanksgiving?
if they were not going to release it this month why would they declare it GM all ready. I would keep working on it as long as possible. It's coming out in October for sure.
