iTunes artwork question

Now that I have an internet connection at home I'm into downloading artwork for my iTunes tracks. One thing I noticed, is that iTunes seems to include the artwork on the tracks it transfers to the iPod. Is my perception correct? And why does it do this - too hard to separate the artwork out from the metadata or a hint that one day we'll be able to see artwork on our iPods. Or for that matter why not music videos.

    Crap - I now see that there was an earlier thread in July on this topic. I really need to start using the search feaute berfore I post and not after. Mods feel free to delete this thread.
