What is the longest time you can survive without a computer (now)? I've been without mine since last friday... trying to resist till 24th or 25th Oct before I get a new one. Painful. Even when I can ... sometimes use the iMac of someone else. (So at least I don't have to touch a peecee).

How long can you guys go? I feel so bad now... Hard to wait 10 more days before the pornwerbook. \

    Freaky. you read my mind!

My current AIM away message reads: "Schooling. (I didn't use my G5 for 24 hours yesterday! Got a little homework done. Different ambitions today )"

    More or less on topic...

I have had no television reception for I'd say...three months.

    I feel great.

Of course my new Playstation 2 has been holding me hostage for those three months too. Finally finished Vice City...

But I am so happy that:

    - I don't have to watch (deal with) commercials.

    - I don't get the depressing/filtered/biased news and O' Reilly circus clowns.

    - I don't care what the new line-up of cop/lawyer/doctor/reality drivel that the new season will bring.

    - I don't have to pay the $80.00 a month for cable of which 90% is crap anyway.

I do tend to be on the computer more. Only because of the small freelance work coming through right now. But I don't think I spend as much as I did when I worked at a job with a computer and a high-speed connection...hours and hours of surfing and downloading...and posting on AI...

Well I can't live without my computer... I mean, what else would I do with my life?

Maybe 10 or 12 hours at the most...more for internet access than the actual computer (although I'd rather go online with my PowerBook over a fast connection than a Dell on dialup).

    2 1/2 - almost 3 days.

When I drove some old guy who was my grandma's cousin to Florida

He turned out to be a bi-sexual pedaphile...

I held my own but it was still horrible

    yeah anyways

Nah, I was on a Redhat. But computerless .. I mean mostly macless. I don't have a pc myself either. I'm writing this maclessly even now, ... on an iMac ... in Omniweb so I don't screw the cookies of someone else...

I guess it depends on your definition of "without a computer." There's a 24-hour computer lab in my dorm that has four flat panel iMacs - that in itself is enough to keep me going for quite a while. I'd get annoyed at not having a computer of my own, but I don't think it would be a huge deal as long as I could hold onto my data (on an external hard drive or something).

The main problem is that the iMacs have very few applications available, and they're running 10.2.0 (yes, the admin there is an idiot and he hasn't updated the system software). For browsing, you either get Internet Explorer or a May 2002 build of Mozilla. And there's standard iChat too. So I could get by for probably a couple weeks, but I'd be hankering for a computer after that.

Oh, and using the flat panel iMacs there has convinced me that my next computer will be a flat panel iMac. My eMac is nice but I love the ergonomics and the screen of the iMac, even if it's just 1024x768. However, my eMac is very new so I will be keeping it for a while.

Well now that I've found the type of job I've been hoping to secure for the last couple years, I can survive exactly two days: Saturday and Sunday.

Otherwise I like to think that I could survive just fine for at least a month or so. I like to send emails to friends and family so that's sort of where I'd break down....
