hi

i'm about to buy my first mac - v exciting...

i'm thinking about a 17" powerbook, but want to know what the deal is with upgrading ram at a later date. if i order it with the 512 base amount, will i be able to upgrade it past 1gb, or will that be the limit?

hope someone can help, as it's right on my price limit with the minimum.

cheers

The 17" PowerBook has two RAM slots, and both are user-accessible. If you want to go past 1 GB, you can add a 1 GB SODIMM to the other slot for a total of 1.5 GB... if you want to go to 2 GB, you'll have to remove the pre-installed 512 MB SODIMM. But it is easy to upgrade the RAM in the PowerBook, so don't worry about it!
