Scaling down images

I know there has been a thread here about this before, but I could not find it anywhere. I read once about a program that can take .jpg/.gif images and scale them down. I have photoshop, but it is currently disabled due to circumstances beyond my control. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Disabled? Heh.

Try GraphicConverter. You can do files individually or batched in groups.

Or there is also the command line ImageMagick. I use it a lot to batch process images. I think that fink even has it included.

Another suggestion: If you're already using MacOS X 10.3, the new AppleScript Image Events might do the job as well. Scaling, rotating, cropping images, single or in batches... you name it, the events do it. (Hint to Apple: Unfortunately there's the exception of changing the image resolution, puhleeeez change this!!!).

    See http://www.apple.com/applescript/imageevents/ for more.

    Greetings!
