osx up to date

Hi,

I just purchased a G5 dual with 10.2 pre-installed.

I would prefer to wipe my hd and install a complete version of panther.

I was informed the up to date program just sends an updater CD or CD's.

Is there any downside beside having the Extra CD's? Will it be exactly as if I had purchased Panther?

Thanks

The updater CD's require a previous version of OS X to be on the computer. The installation can wipe it clean and then install panther, but if you erase it yourself, you can't use the updater cd's to install panther. If you just buy panther, you can install it on a blank hard drive.
