If you are looking to do pro stuff (hence the name) go with DVD studio pro. It can have up to 99 tracks, subtitle streams, 2 hours vs, 1 1/2 for iDVD. If you have enough money to spend, and want to create professional DVDs get DVD studio Pro, but take iDVD for a spin and see how you like it. Go to the Apple Store and ask for a Demo!

I've used both. not extensively but enough to get a "feel" for them.

iDVD 2 is impressive. It's basic yet does a good enough job to look "professional". It is limiting though. The biggest limitation is the 90min max.

However, if you are doing this professionally and mastering DVDs DVD Studio pro is a must. it's your only choice if you are going to be creating dual layer discs or double sided or sending off to print or need multiple audio options such as surround sound, etc. it also has a bit of a learning vurve but if you are familiar with FCP and know the technical details about DVDs its not that bad

Is it true, with iDVD, that it leaves a "watermark" of the Apple logo in the bottom left hand corner of the screen?

The watermark is removable in iDVD 2 via preference panel.
