Help finding 'origami' laptop sleeve...

Posted:
in General Discussion edited January 2014
Saw it a couple of months ago, I *thought* on O'Grady's PowerPage, can't find it now.

It was a *sweet* folding fabric sleeve that went around a laptop like an origami envelope. Absolutely loved it. Can't find it for the life of me now, wanted to put it on my Xmas list.

Anybody out there seen what I'm talking about?

Maybe at SFBags.com? Or something from Marware? Or maybe something from TiBag? Or would you rather settle on Acme?

There also is Tom Bihn. Or still from incase?

    Defiant's is actually the closest...

This wasn't a traditional envelope sleeve... it was about twice as large as the laptop, unfolded, then the four corners were folded up and over and an Asian style clasp held it all together. Gorgeous design, very unusual.

A laptop sleeve I can find dozens of. This *particular* one I can't. :P

I think it was a Japanese company offering it. It was designed for the PowerBook G4 size ratio.

    *sigh*

There is a big discussion here, though I must warn you it goes to another forum.

Maybe you can find what you want in there.

the sleeve looks really nice, but it doesn't seem like it offers much "protection"

I think I would feel a little awkward just wrapping my powerbook in fabric and throwing it in my bag. maybe if my bag had a laptop compartment...

sorry, this is my first time seeing that sleeve.

It *WAS* on PowerPage... their search engine didn't find 'sleeves' when I entered 'sleeve'. Silly.

At first look i thought it kinda sucked but ... function wise it's kind of cool. I still like my small Columbia bag I found on sale for $20.

Same thought I had. "Oh come on, that can't be *that* functional... no, wait... actually, that's pretty slick..."

And it looks to have decent padding without being overly bulky.

I have a padded backpack, I just need a scratch protector, and that looks more than adequate. Pricey, but damned if it ain't keen.

Yea but mostly it just looks cool.

I just though of this. The laptop bag/sleeve that I have from Columbia folds all the way out too. It's got a latching adjustable straps on some flaps that go around. It's nice because I can size the bag small around the 12" and I can also open it up and lay it flat like a work surface. Something I've never done.
