Bill Gates "Unplugged" on CNET.

Quite a few choice quotes:

"They (IBM) don't develop Linux ... they charge people to run software on top of Linux and services."

"Of the two operating systems that are gaining share, one is called Linux and one is called Windows. "

"Our overall share has continued to grow somewhat."

And of course, yet another gem of a quote regarding Windows security:

"Our system is actually more robust because people are trying to do things to it."

These are almost as good as Bush quotes

I loved what he said in Newsweek, about how everyone who contracted MSBlast was somehow stupid.

Do they develop Linux? They are helping the community against adversaries (SCO), or so I believe. And they might be adding source to the source. I don't know.

I don't think this is wrong, actually. But I would love to see some numbers proving the opposite. I think Windows and Linux both are gobbling up many specialised server farms that used to run on peculiar flavors of the nix persuasion. And of course: there are still many people making the primeval switch: that from a state without a computer to that with a computer. There is much room for growth there. As in the car business (there used to be a time when getting each rich man one car was the target, now the target is 3 cars per household).

See above. Figures may prove him wrong. I'd like to see them, if they are there.

That's a very common (mis?)conception, which some have tried to disspell, but few have, imo, succeeded in that endeavour. In any case, I don't think anyone can discount Windows' market share completely when looking for reasons of all the attacks it has to cope with so often.
