for me the site has been down since at least 6 pm today----more than four hours....don't know if this is a maintainance issue, an update issue and just a freakin issue between apple and me.....would you kind people do me a favor and (if you ordered an iMac on the 7th or 8th at the apple store) would you check your order on-line....just want to find out if the site is down for everyone, or just for me and macintosh.....thanks....g
ps if you ordered later than the 8th you can check too...if may be helpful to know if you can check your order too....g

BTW, that's a weird form of claustrophobia I have as well... I can't stand turtlenecks, and I can't wear rings or tight jewelry either... RIngs make me fret that I won't EVER be able to get them off again, or that they are choking off my circulation. (Sorry for going away off topic!)

i wish i had the tight ring phobia though....been married almost 17 years (wonderful years....my better half may read these boards... ) and have gone from a too skinny 145 pounds at 6 foot to a "ok, maybe i should lose 10 pounds" 180 at 5' 11 and a half (damn these shrinking vertebral discs)....i don't think my wedding ring could come off without divine intervention....g
Order status checking at the Apple Store is indeed down. However, this is about the second or third time it's been down during the last couple weeks, that I can remember offhand. Hasn't meant anything positive before, we can always hope though...

yes it has, but has it ever been down this long before??? going on at least 6 hours down...probably longer as i didn't check today except in the early am (site was up, imac still not shipped), and then again around 6 pm (site was down and is still down)....does length of time down mean anything??? (was going to ask if length meant anything, but don't want to start "that" discussion )...maybe saturday is just a good time for the apple store to work on site maintainance and bugs....i am probably reading to much into it...g

Well, purely conjecture, but I wouldn't think that it would take this long just to toggle a certain number of orders to a different status. After all, they're not sending out scibes with hammers and chisels and abacus beads, right? I WANT this to be about shipping me (alright, us, I'm in a sharing mood) our iMacs. But....
And you're right g, I am freakier than MOST. A fact that I alternatingly regard with pride and chagrin. Hey, and yes I am not married and won't be getting married and the ring phobia thing has nothing to do with it. Really. <cough>
Congrats on those 17 years of yours, though

hopefully pride much more offen than chagrin...normal is over-rated and freakish is much more fun....as for the never getting married part....i have many friends that are never getting married and i love them all dearly....i have been told that 10% of our population will never get married and the number may be higher....
thanks for the congrats on 17 years....between dating, living together and marriage it has been over 20 years with the same wonderful young woman...i am very lucky.....smart, sexy and socially active (she started and runs the first medicaid in the schools program for the whole USA making sure that all school aged children have health care in the Albuquerque Public Schools), she also teaches aerobics on the side so she has managed to keep her youth quite nicely....she differently got the short end of the stick marrying me (and no nasty comments about the phrase "short end of the stick").....
but to get back on topic....status order page still down...over 14 hours and counting...too long to just be a maintainance issue...most either be a massive order update or a horrible bug has crashed the page....g
I still can not check my status, it is now 10:50 AM on the 27 of January. <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[Surprised]" />

Hey g, your wife sounds like an amazing woman. And despite what appears to be a rabid lack of ego on your part, the mere fact that a woman like that chose you speaks positive volumes about you and the above postulated short stick.
And yes, the Apple store is STILL down. I wonder if some web designer's pager has been bleating for the last several hours? Perhaps the Saturday night vodka ball and ensuing mad naked dash throught the streets of Cupertino were NOT a good idea for these guys, eh?
Anybody got any ideas?

Hrmmm, that's odd, and not the application not found error that the rest of us are getting. Are you entering the order status page from a bookmark or coming in the front door of the store, so to speak? Perhaps your browser cookie is hanging you up somehow or... um.
I'm afraid I'm at a loss, already.

Oh ok, I thought there was something different and that's why you mentioned it.
Actually, it's probably the fact that everyone is checking the site so often to see if their iMac has shipped that the application fell over.
