Disk Utility Freezes?

Disk Utility froze 13 times today when i was trying to repair permissions. And it wasnt a normal freeze, where I could force quit it and be fine. It froze everything. Has this happened to anyone else? Any fix? (I'm in 10.3)

    Tried running disk utility from the OSX Install CD?

    For anyone else who may have this problem, I was able to fix it by booting into single-user-mode and typing "fsck -f" at the command line. There were like 1000 errors. The fans in my G5 were going REALLY loud for about 30 mins while the errors were being fixed.
