Random Changing Icons in 10.3

I don't know if anybody else is experiencing this or not, but it seems that in Panther my icons start changing every once in a while. For example a .tif file will get webloc icon.

I can't trace it to anything specifically. Logging out and logging back in seems to fix the problem. This seems to happen on all my Panther installs at some point or another. I don't have any haxies or anything like that installed. Just commercial software like Office and Creative Suite.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I experienced the same thing after installing BBedit 7.1, I trashed BBedit and it hasn't happened since then, I will wait for BBedit 7.2. Let's hope OS X 10.3.2 will fix this problem.

I had the same problem with my developers folder. After I ran an installer or a program it the dev folder would take that icon...or some sort of weird in-between state.

Happens to me too. I even once had one of the sidebar icons in the Finder show up as the Stickies icon!

Try repairing permissions in Disk Utility. That has helped me with icon troubles before.

The wrong icons were appearing in InDesign dialog boxes for a while. Instead of a caution icon, I was getting a random folder icon in there.

AHHH! It happened to me too. I use Meteorologist and when I quit it today my Mail icon in the dock changed to the Metro icon. Seems kinda strange.
