Dual 17" ASD's looking better than Cinema Display now

Since the new PowerMacs have dual-monitor support built into them, why would someone want to spend $2300-USD for a Cinema Display when they can get far more real estate for less with TWO 17" LCDs (at around $2000-USD total)?

Even with the current rebates, here's the math:

Cinema Display: $2300-500 = $1800

Dual 17"ers: $2000-300 = $1700

Yeah, the Cinema Display is sexy, but I'd rather have the real estate of dual LCD's (which is a sexy notion in its own rite). <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

The new machines have dual support but not for dual ADC monitors. It's for one ADC and one VGA. You cannot connect two 17" ADC monitors to the dual display card. You would have to buy a PCI card along with the DVI to ADC adapter to run two ADC displays.

Now there's a VGA to ADC adapter so he could just use that.

yeah, but wouldn't that mean that one LCD would have to do the Digital-Analogue-Digital conversion?

But look at the price of the adaptor - $399!

Enough to ANOTHER cheapo 15" third party VGA-equipped displays and still have some extra cash for other stuff!

Yeah, I know. The price really is crazy. If people really wanna have another Apple display then I guess they'll get it.

Yeah, and they would be great. I just got that LCD to hook up to my iBook and it's really great. Much more worth the $399. I found the beige cheaper, but I didn't want ugly beige so I got the black.
