I'm reposting this because I didn't think you saw it the first time. I'm really serious about this too.

[quote]No, I didn't order a Dell. But I did get one of their monitors...the P992. I can't wait!

Wait, you don't mean the 19" CRT monitor do you?

Cancel the order, send it back, do NOT BUY THIS MONITOR!!!

We have them where I work and they are complete pieces of shit. I'm not kidding here. They are REALLY BAD. If you're lucky enough to get one that DOESN'T SHAKE, it will most likely be VERY BLURRY. I had to tweak around with the settings of one of them for nearly 30 minutes to get it so you wouldn't get dizzy after using it for 10 minutes straight.

After you use it for a few minutes, you'll see what I mean. They are HORRIBLE. I think we've already sent back 3 or 4 of these monitors. BEWARE.

    Got that right!

Seriously though for the money you could get such better quality than that. Good CRT's are not that expensive anymore.

No, I actually cancelled the order before it shipped.

Thanks, I was actually trying to order the P991, which is really good, and it was $340. Not bad for a Trinitron that can do 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz...plus it was black.

But the P992 which I ordered looks like crap, which is why I cancelled. Now the promotion is over though. I'm gonna order something else I guess.

    Any recommendations for a flat 19" CRT that can do 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz? Since

That shouldn't be to hard to find, right? For $330, mind you.

I appreciate how much the AI community cares about my purchase decisions though.

I'm glad to hear that. No one deserves to have to deal with one of those POS monitors.

Gimme a break people. Dell's monitors are as good as anyone's. They don't even make them they're just rebranded. I have a P991 with a Trinitron tube and it's awesome, much better than most. I just don't get the animosity towards Dell I see on this board. The fact of the matter is that they have the best customer service in the industry (including Apple), and are among the best in reliability. Building your own is always nicest, but if you have to go OEM, Dell is a solid choice.

Like i said in another post -

The biggest reason that general people buy from them is their "support", f that, its like if someone rapes you then calls you the next day to see if your ok, does that still count.

    Get the CRT I have!

    I have a Flat 19" NEC MultiSync FE950.

This thing is picture perfect and does automatic resolution changes.

i can go as high as 1920x1440. I use it at 1152x870 though.

It goes at 75 hertz at that res. It can go as high as 120 hertz.

In most resolutions it stays at 85 hertz, just for you!

Yeah, the P991 is the one I really wanted.

If someone knows where to get a black one for <$350, tell me!

I'm looking at the FE950+ (black), but I can't find it for a reasonable price.

Hence the mention of reliability as well. But as for an example of their support, my video card fan has been making a noise for a while now off and on, it's getting ready to die. I can't find a replacement fan at any of the local shops so I email Dell. 1 day later, a new card is on it's way. Just because the fan whines. I can't vouch for quality of support from Apple, but for a lousy 90 days, I don't care how good it is - it sucks.

You know those new fangled "monitors" from Dell use CRTs right? Heh.

Actually I have a Dell branded monitor, and I love it. It's nothing more than a 21" Sony Trinitron monitor with a Dell logo. Bright, crisp, high resolutions with dual video inputs and it cost me $249.
