12" Powerbook battery

Hi guys. My Grandpa mentioned a problem with his 12" PowerBook where sometimes the clock resets and other weird stuff happened. I thought it was a battery probelm and lo-and-behold, the battery icon in the menu has a "X" through it. I pushed the button on the battery and the lights don't go on. And the final test: Unplug the power. Nope, the battery doesn't kick in. (I also ran a bunch of optimazation utilities too)

He bought this computer I think in Feburary so it is a few months from a year old. I think it is still under warrenty but don't know for sure. Should I tell him to go to a Apple Store to get a new battery?

Thanks

-Ebby

Yes: Apple's standard warranty is a year. If you want to save some of the bother, resetting the Power Management Unit might fix it: search Apple's support site for details.
