7100 PowerMac

Can I use the Rom card, on my 7100 powermac's motherboard in a newer 233Mhz PowerMac 9600? It looks like it would fit.

    well.. they both shipped with a 4MB SIMM ROM.. however I don't think they are interchangeable.

    I don't think so. And I'm not sure why you would want to use old ROM in a newer Mac. Generally people want to put ROMs from newer Macs into older Macs to enable certain features, such as slave drives on pre-Rev. C beige G3s, or 32-bit addressing on the SE/30 by using a IIci ROM.



    I know that RAM from a 7100 won't work in a 9600, because the 7100 uses 72-pin SIMMs and the 9600 uses 168-pin DIMMs.
