Member titles

Before I begin, let me just say that I really do HATE it when new members sign up for a board, and then immediately start making "suggestions"!!!!!! (snarl) SO presumptuous and annoying! The very idea...! Where DO they get off! Despicable, really.

Having acknowledged all that, I just want to make a timid observation , while realizing that I'm placing myself in dire jeopardy of getting (gulp) (cringe) (eek!) ....yes, Strike 3 !!!

Well, here goes.......

Every time I read the title "Senior Member", I always picture an elderly, retired person.

Does anyone else picture that? And then I discover that the 'senior member' is in fact a college student! It's a bit disconcerting. \

Has anyone ever toyed with the idea of using the term "Diamond Member", or something like that, instead of 'senior member'?

Or maybe five stars could designate posters with 1,500 posts? ...four stars for 1,000, and so on?

Okay, just an idea.....

(Carol trembles, eyes squinched shut, waiting for the AXE!!!)

Check out the age of the most senior (according to AI calculation) members (EmAn) age.

Its kind of like when I hear something like Gulf War Veteran. I don´t imagine a 23 year soldier but a 4*4 version of this:

    What was you asking again?

Humm... right. Fresh new member, infatuated with the Suggestions forum, to challenge a system that works just fine. I think the title is fine...

Hi Wickes - I think the term 'infatuated' is a bit extreme, don't you?

And I don't mind being shot down. I spent ten months getting shot down on the history boards, so I have formed an impenetrable shell that permits me to live through pretty much anything.

(That statement holds completely true, except for one week a month, when I will shed inconsolable tears at the drop of a hat if I receive any kind of messageboard thrashing. Sigh.)

Like I said, my observation was VERY timid.

Umm....yes, it IS my real name.

My mother named me after her brother, Carl (the German side of our family).

At least they didn't call me 'Carla'!

Gee, Wickes, I bet you have relatives named Carl, too. (Maybe even one named 'Carol' ) I'm actually only 1/4 German.

But I remember hearing that my grandmother, who was pretty much all German, installed oak flooring in their house herself. I think that is so cool. I love to do stuff like that, too. Or, at least, I would if I had time.

My second girlfriend's name was Carol. She was an evil bitch from the inner rings of hell that showed no mercy to any she came across.

But I won't hold that against you...
