New iMac in stock at PC World (UK)...

I was at PC World in Manchester today, and enquired about the availablility of the new iMac (G4 800, Superdrive)....they said that they had 150 in stock.



They said that they were on 'manual allocation', which means that you can easily get one if you have a business account (which anyone can open, and they are cheap...just got a dual 800 for very, very silly money), or if you are a consumer you have to specifically ask (a manager I think, to allocate one) although they assured me there should be no problem...



PCW Business delivers throughout the UK, but I guess alot of other stores must also have them in stock....(Cardiff, Oldham, Trafford etc all have the demo iMacs, and said that they would be getting them next week...)

    Yeah! How much did you pay then? I can't see PC World selling lower than an Apple reseller... Utter tosh!

    Just checked the PCW site and they don't even stock duals??? And the iMac is up for sale for £1,599 (at least you get free delivery with Apple.com)



    PCW Pentium + Crap + Windows - more like!!!

    Not a chance in hell! I run a Mac only graphics/publishing company. I agree that PC World must be the worst retail outlet in the UK, bar none However, they can, on occasion do some good deals...



    I use PC World Business, where they are negotiable on price (I have had an account for a year or so....), and they do stock the whole Apple range including duals if you use the business section.



    I first went to them for a G4 400 last year, and they gave me a good price...so when I wanted to upgrade I had a look around to guage prices, and out of curiosity I went back to see what they could do...



    As a result of this I bought a Dual 800 for £1599 + VAT, or 1878.73 inc VAT... IMHO a pretty good deal...a few hundred pounds cheaper than elsewhere...



    They do do free delivery, and if you barter you can get a decent amount of discount, particularly if you are buying a few things at the same time...



    I can't believe that I'm sounding like a PCW apologist (!) *grits teeth* but, in my recent dealings they seem to have done OK *ungrits teeth*

    I HATE THAT BUNCH OF NO BRAINERS SO MUCH SO THAT WHEN I GO IN THERE(JUST TO ANNOY THEM) THEY IGNORE ME. I AM SOOO HAPPY WITH THIS THAT I STAND NEXT TO THEM WHEN THEY ARE DUPING A PUNTER AND TITTER AND GROAN. IT IS GREAT!!!!!!
