Little-known Things About You?

What are some things in your life that hardly anyone knows about you but you feel really are significant little quirks or routines?

For me:
  • I can't walk down stairs without looking at them or holding onto a railing. My sense of spacial reasoning sucks enough that I'd probably kill myself if I didn't have these safeguards.

  • I almost always carry around a Chap Stick with me. I can't stand for my lips to go dry, and if I would slowly go crazy if I had no relief immediately available. Some of my closest friends have gotten to the point of asking me, "Can I use your Chap Stick?" because they know I have one very near me at all times.

  • Even though I'm a 24 year-old white male, I watch "The Young and The Restless" (a soap opera). My mom hooked me on it during the summers off of school when I was a kid, and I've followed it ever since.

  • When eating Oreos, I don't twist the halves apart. I simply completely submerge the cookie (with my fingers partially in the milk) to let it soak a bit and then eat it.

So let's hear about you!

I am with you on the chap stick thing, and I really don't like any other brand of lip moisturizer.

Other than that I would just be bragging about myself, so I'll stop at that.

I wash my hair more than two times a day, sometimes not even taking a shower, just washing the hair.

I only listen to slow music while doing my homework.

Sometimes I just write for the hell of it, I have hundreds of files of poetry and editorials in my documents folder. Some of it has never been seen by anyone but me. I also write in a notebook.

I am a toiletries fanatic, I have sooo many pomades, gels, toothpastes, soaps, deoderants...etc.

    I sleep with 2 pillows.

I dont like jeans but I wear them because everyone else does, I admit to conformity on that one!

In high school I was on the football AND in the marching band. I started for 3.5 years and up until I was a junior, I would play the entire frosh-soft game, then put on a band uniform and go march the half-time show during the Varsity game.

I was an extra on a Power Rangers episode.

I marched in the Hollywood Christmas Parade.

I've been on two magazine covers.

I talk to my imaginary friends. And I answer myself back.

    I also take chapstick everywhere.

I wrote an AI so I could have a friend.

    Um...probably lots of stuff.

I am afraid of fungus. Really, I don't know why... perhaps I was a tree in a past life. It started when I would mow the lawn back home. There was this giant patch of mushrooms that made me really uncomfortable. Eventually there was a 12 foot radius of really tall grass around them. I get chills just thinking about it!

I have 2 tear ducts in my left eye. The optometrist noticed it a few years ago. It makes sense - if I cry, the tears fall from that eye faster than from the other one.

I still really enjoy reading children's books. Sometimes I'd just rather read about Curious George than do any of my school assigned reading.

Whenever I doodle in my class notes, I almost always draw eyes. It is also almost always a left eye.

I go to the movies with friends on weekends. But every springtime, I get the hankering to go by myself on Wednesdays.

Wednesdays because it's free popcorn day at AMC for *moviewatcher* card holders.

But I have a routine. I leave directly from school, drive clear across town (on the freeway) to a mall that I think is architecturally well-designed and charmingly landscaped. There's sort of a tunnel of trees one has to walk through, and in the springtime, those trees are covered with fragrant yellow flowers. It's beautiful, and makes me happy to see such loveliness.

First, I buy my ticket. Then I buy a newspaper and go upstairs to the food court, to the Cajun Grill, and order their fantastic bourbon chicken. This chicken is sublimely yummy. I eat and read the paper. Then I go downstairs to Starbucks and have a Venti Mocha, and read the paper some more. Then I go to the movie and get my free popcorn, which I save till later during the film, 'cause I'm too full right then; and 'cause coffee and popcorn are not especially complementary.

So, that's my Wednesday movie routine during springtime. Weird, I guess. But after a day with 140 thirteen-year-olds, I am ready for some time on my own.

I also have the chapstick thing. I can't bear for my lips to be dry. I have chapstick everywhere. In fact, I just put some on two seconds ago. I have hand lotion everywhere, too. I like for my hands to be nice and soft, and not dry.

Two years ago, my system got really low on iron, as it turned out. I was really, really lacking in iron. And because of that, for about three or four weeks, I became obsessed with chewing ice. I would think about chewing ice during the work day when no ice was available, and I would crave it desperately.

I eventually learned who had the best ice 'for chewing' at all the convenience stores and fast-food drive-thru's in the vicinity. I became an ice specialist.

It was so strange. And it was all because I was so low on iron. Weird, huh? As soon as I started taking iron supplements, the whole craving vanished within a few days.

Btw, can anyone explain how being low on iron could make someone want to chew ice? I really don't understand it at all.

Some of that was actually true. My life sucks.

I'm amazed by fire trucks. I don't know what it is, but something about the flashing lights, loud sirens, and total awesomeness just captivates me. I'm 18 years old and I'm as fascinated by them as when I was 6 years old. Good thing too, because I'm going to be a fire fighter when I get older (notice I said, "get older" not grow up ) Ambulances are sweet too, so I guess the paramedic in me will have something to get excited over too.

I have been to over 15 Dave Matthews Band concerts.

I want to go see Phish.

I have a secret love for Murbot.

    Be my guest!

My friends and family torment me about this. I have come home to find graphic pictures of mushrooms on my door. For my birthday this year, my parents got me candy shaped like mushrooms. I freaked out! They thought it was all in good fun, but I don't think they really understand...

I'm sorry, but this made me laugh so hard....especially the chills part.

I apologize for laughing, but it's so funny the way you described it.
