yah make fun of me all you want but bare in mind i recently made the switch....who makes apples' hardware? do they do it themselves or do they have a contractor do it??

depends which hardware you're talking about...
Apple has had
assembly
plants in Ireland, Taiwan, USA, Singapore, etc...
LCD screens are mostly made in Taiwan, as are many other components,
but some of the chips on the mobos and the all G5 cpus are made by IBM in Fishkill USA
got a particular bit of kit you're interested in the specific origins of or just asking generally?
