internet connection

guys, this newbie got questions again,

here it goes,

I use broadband connection, set up and every on the imac is fine

but sometimes, when i click the phone on the top right corner for connection, the 'connect' key seems not working,

also the PPP0E status is sometimes contrary to the built in ethernet status, i.e. 'connect' while actually connected.



also how can i see the connection speed and transfer speed
