G4 Case Mods

Has anyone here done any?

I found these two and I think I'm up for a try. I've never mod'ed a case before, though. Any pointers from people who have tricked out the G3/G4 tower case would be welcome!

On the Screensavers today a cool, nerdy, Dave Foley looking dude from Apple Fritter showed a bunch of their mods in person. There was an original PB G3 with the rubber on the top scraped off to reveal the metal underneath and a red LED in the logo, a tricked out Cube with dual 500's, a new vid card, purple case and (gasp!) a fan.

The only thing he'd done to a tower G4 was take off the side plastics and paint the part inside. He put the panels back on so It wouldn't scratch. It looked really nice, but I can't find it on the Applefritter site.

Just take of the case and dissolve the paint in isopropyl alcohol for a few hours. Then, either leave the shell clear to see the metal insides or paint the inside of the shell silver.

I think he means to make a shell out of TiPB style Titanium, not just painting it Grey.

It wouldn't be too hard if you had access to die forming tools, molds, drop forgers, lathes, Titanium Sheeting, etc...

Now that I think about it... PAINT the plastic

I've already dissolved the paint on the panels and removed the color inserts from the front. my next step is to put some holes in the case. I've gotta get some lighting supplies and some replacement tips for my Dremel first, though. I'll post details when everything's done.

Now, THIS is one sexy PowerMac case!

Heh, because I like to Think Different.

I just wanted to try something new. The "Graphite" look was starting to feel old and I wanted to make my Mac unique. The PeeCee peeps have been doing mad case mods for years but there seem to only be a tiny handful of Mac users willing to change Apple's "perfect" designs. Bah!

Wow. I can only imagine how cool it will turn out. There are so many avenues of design to explore! Good luck to you. Keep us all updated on any new elements to your mod. I'll be checking back every day.

Has anyone seen a custom iBook in Black? I would love to see what that looks like. I've seen the miniTi in the greyish color, but glossy black is more my cup of tea.
