hardware price protection?

I think i read this in another thread. I'm about to get a powerbook, was anticipating one today, without luck. Say, i bought a powerbook tomorrow and a new model comes out a week later...Can I get some price protection, or an upgrade to the new model? How does that work? any experiences?

    Some credit cards also offer price protection.
