Finder (column view)

I love column view in the viewer, but one thing drives me nuts. When you click on a file and it moves the previous pane over to the right to far, you can no longer see the files below the one you just clicked on.

I have a picture to show what I mean.

If you noticed I clicked on a file and it brought up the preview pane, but it took it over to far and you can't see the files under the one I clicked. So Now I have to scroll back to see the files...

I know I could enlarge the finder windows but it doesn't stay I have to do it each time.....

Is there a fix for this I don't know about?

Thanks..

You can adjust the width of the columns, or the width of the window. Try this:

    1) Close all Finder windows.

    2) Open a single window.

    3) Adjust the size(s) to what you want.

    4) Open another window. It *should* be the same as the one just adjusted.

    5) Close both.

    6) Open a new one. It *should* be the same as what you set the other two to.

    Steps 1-4 worked..

Step 6 (the most important one did not.)

Cool. So just always leave one window open to 'clone' off of.

    *sigh*

Dunno, will look into it. I finally managed to tame my Finder windows to always come up the same way, but...

    what the hell?

is this some sort of bad ai learning the user preferences?

i cant get my windows to come up in column view two times in a row. so i figure i'll just let the panther just do what it needs to do...

    Well that one's easy.

Finder Preferences -> General -> check 'Open new windows in column view'
