I wish I could recommend a RIP package that works under OS X. It seems like most prepress shops and printers are still stuck in OS 9. Many will accept OS X files but they are still using OS 9 to RIP files to CTP, film, or proof.
Here is one that sounds interesting but I have never used it personally:
I've used PowerRIP from iproofsystems in OS9 with an Epson Printer but I don't need it anymore in OSX because of Gimpprint. I can print now without problems out of InDesign, Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator etc. ...
