ok so i am finally upgrading to a powermac from a pentium 3 laptop.

my choices as i see them are:

1. a stripped down 800 with cd-rw and a cinema display.

2. a 933 with superdrive, 80 gig hard drive, Ti graphics card and a 17 inch studio display.

3. a stripped down dual 1 gig with cd-rw, radeon graphics card and a 17 inch display.

these options are all my budget would allow me so i cant get the 933 and the cinema, or the dual gig with the superdrive etc.

what do you all think i should get?

i will be using this as my primary machine, for web and print design, and sound editing.

thanks.

Personally I'd go for the 933.

If your job is web and print .....get a stripped 933 with Radeon and SuperDrive (it's worth that extra cost on top of the CD-RW!!!) and a 19" CRT...and get as much RAM from other sources as possible....

Of course if you are planning to get into video you MUST get the Dual Ghz

That's easy: web and print design? Sound editing? The obvious choice is the one with the Cinema Display - 1600 pixels vs. 1280 pixels is a no-brainer for the line of work you do. What do you need to burn DVDs for? And what do you need a GeForce4 Ti for, either?

    Choice number one.

Get a 933 or above these new processors are much faster than the Mhz increase would suggest.
