Best software for computer upgrade?

I'm taking advantage of the Powerbook trade in program and was curious what the best solution would be for backing up my files in order to do the transfer to the new machine.

As many know, you don't get to have both machines at the same time (so no firewire target mode), but i'm planning to backup to DVD and then "restore" when I get the new machine.

I was considering Carbon Copy Cloner, but I don't want to overwrite the hard drive on the new machine.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

-Mark

I would backup all your documents first, download/backup all your program installers and updates, and burn those. When you get your new computer. Reinstall your programs so everything is fresh and restore your documents.

I haven't had the best luck with carbon copy cloner. I prefer to use disk images for files and use the brand new system instead of replacing it.
