My brother is getting Apple's keyboard, and a preamp, but I have a simple question. When I hook up my guitar to the preamp, I know I can apply different amps to the guitar, but can I make the guitar sound like other instruments like I can with the keyboard?

Nope. You can, however, use various presets for other instruments with your guitar. This is done just like you would select the amp you want, but click on another instrument instead. It still sounds like a guitar, but you can get some interesting sounds with a little tweaking.





The closest you'll come to what oyu desire is with something like Line 6's Variax guitar, which is able to model other stringed instruments, such as a banjo.
