Has anyone flashed their firmware so that the drive becomes region free? I'd like to do that to mine but they say there are potential errors that can happen during the firmware replacement. I have an iBook 2001 500

    Don't do it unless you have some DVDS FROM other ReGions ytou wat to swatch.

    I'm waiting until my DVD drive is region locked (you get 5 region switches, and it gets locked on the 5th, and "final" switch). I've got the firmware patch downloaded and waiting. Since I travel so much between the US and Europe, and I'll most likely be buying DVD's from both markets, it may not be long before I'll need to install the patch, but I'm not doing it until I need to.
