Hewlett Packard printers and oversized documents

I need to print something that's 8.5 x 17 inches long but I simply can't get my HP Photosmart 1000 to do it even though I've created a custom paper-size of those dimensions and setup Photoshop to generate that output. I'm on the ragged edge of spending $400 on a large-bed printer, the Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 9650 Color Inkjet. Anybody know if there's a workaround for the Photosmart?



I'm going to try printing it from my machine that's running OS 9.x to see if it's a driver issue.

    UPDATE

    It's the machine running OS X that's to blame, the OS 9.x machine prints that custom page with no problems. I'll check the drivers after this project is complete. Hope this helps somebody....it helped me save $400!~
