Help with Mail
Can somebody please explain to me the difference between 'On My Mac' mailbox and the new 'firstname.surname@mac' mailbox that has just appeared in Mail.
Firstly, what soes it mean by 'On My Mac'?
If I'm at work, and I organise my .mac mailbox into sub-folders, when I check my mail at home, will it also be organised? Or do I manually have to keep filing stuff?
Everything was fine when both my works e-mail mailbox and my .mac mailbox were listed under 'On My Mac' - now I'm wondering what has changed!
Cheers!

On My Mac is indeed local to *just that machine*. Any organization you do there will be *only* on that machine. Any messages in those folders are *only* on that machine.
If you're organizing your .mac account, then it will appear the same no matter where you access it from. That's one of the beauties of server-side mail storage.
I have 99% of my mail on IMAP servers specifically for those reasons, only after a few months do I move it to my home server for local-only access, just to keep things running smoothly.
That means that everythings organised the way it should be. The mail that is 'On My Mac' is work related, so it should only ever appear on that one machine.
And the name@mac stuff can be accessed from any machine. That's exactly what I'm looking for!
That's going to make a big difference!
Thanks for your help guys?
