I assume that you are talking about burning and reading DVD+R media. I backed-up my iTunes library (3.9 GB) to a Memorex DVD+R 4X 4.7 GB media.

I have a Dual G5, ordered late July, received October 1. Hope this helps.

did you do anything special or did it just recognized your +R media?

No, nothing special. The back-up burn was done from iTunes not Toast.

I have a friend who has one of the first flat panel iMacs (two years old) with a A04 in it. His machine cannot see the +R. I bought the DVD+R media by mistake. I guess I will have to use these only for back-ups. Oh well, live and learn.

Well, Panther and all Apple-written applications that burn media support all imaginable CD and DVD formats, including +.

Is there any reason you can't use iTunes, Finder, or Disk Utility to back up your files?

    <<i use toast>>

Are you using Toast 6.03? It should burn the + format.
