Brightness controls have gone bonkers...lagging my computer big time

This has happened once before...I adjust the brightness and it takes a couple seconds to adjust, then it like...keeps adjusting until it's as bright as it goes or as dim as it goes. Then for an indefinite period of time afterward, the brightness level pops up slowly.

When I go into System prefs, the display settings are super lagged.

Opening windows is super lagged, basically everything is way lagged out, what's the cause of this?

I'm assuming a FSCK would fix it, but I can't really do that at this moment.

it'll be fixed most likely after I put my computer to sleep, or shut it down.

but, I would like to know what causes this, and maybe some preventative measures.

OS: 10.3.2

Machine: Powerbook 15" aluminum

Same thing happens to me, except I don't have that problem with windows. It gets super bright or super dark just because you h it it too many times, but I know what you mean.

You hit it...it takes at least 10 seconds, the display brightens, then after another amount of time you see the brightness thing on the screen reflect what you just did. It's very frustrating.

Same things happens to me. Same setup too (15" and 10.3.2.). I've always put it down to heavy cpu load. A Finder relaunch often solves it for me. Its damn annoying.
