Installing Samba 3.0.2a on 10.3

Has anyone had any success installing the new Samba 3.0.2a client on OS X Panther (or Jaguar for that matter)? I'm in a Windows-server environment, and we're having a ton of problems that are resolved with anything beyond Samba 3.0rc2 (which is what Apple has packaged in 10.3).
