Anyone notice that the new Ti Laptop has had its Infrared port removed? Looks like Apple has decided to do away with this little device from its entire range now.

...Roll on Bluetooth I guess

that's fine and dandy with me, if it means we get a DVI port on the new 'books. I've had infrared on both of my powerbooks (wallstreet 98-2000, and Pismo 2000-02) and damned if I could ever get infrared to work reliably. I used it as the sole means to sync with my palm m100, which was fine, if terribly terribly slow, but as soon as I got my visor edge, which thoughtfully included a USB cable, I lost interest in toying with IR. Sure, some people with IR capable cell phones might have had some fun with it, but bluetooth is obviously a better alternative.

Though they took IR away, they gave us a DVI interface and a higher resolution screen, so I'm not complaining.

    That's covered in <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=000807"; target="_blank">this thread about the new Ti</a>.

Basically, it looks like Bluetooth will be the replacement, once they get it out of beta.

Please continue the discussion in the above thread. Thanks.
