here's the breaking news at cnn:

imagine a computer that you can talk to and it listens! oh wait, thats already in OS X, but nevermind that! i guess IBM is working on "new" technology that allows for a better spoken interface with web browsing. i realize apple's voice features arent the best, but they should at least get a little credit for being a few years ahead of everyone else. it just really pisses me off how pc people think they're so cool with new features and crap that we've had forever.... anyways, my rant is done.

Wow, you can do that now with AppleScript.

In fact, we've been able to do that for, um... eight years? Six years?

My god, it's so old hat, I can't remember when it became available.

I see it could work poorly for people, but I like AppleCares voice controlled menus. I wish it didn't sound like it was real slow though.

I find the voice control less than relaible. I sit there talking to my computer, and it just ignores me. My girlfriend is more receptive than it!

MacAddict had a feature in which you could use voice control and some X-10 controllers to change the lighting in your house with a simple voice command. Cool stuff.
