Airport Base Station alternatives?

I've heard of people getting better wireless reception with a Powerbook using hardware other than Apple's base station.

If you're one, what are you using? How does one go about setting it up?

You might be better off doing a search on MacNN's <a href="http://forums.macnn.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=18"; target="_blank">Airport and Networking</a> forum for answers to this question. I bet there are some answers there waiting to be found. Good luck and post back here with solutions.

edit: added a link for easy access.

Cisco makes some base stations that work exceptionally well. They can be a little pricey though...
