Any new OSX optimization news?

Just wondering if there is any new info about apple recompiling OSX with that

IBM compiler? (I remember reading about it awhile back.) If I remember

correctly there was supposed to be some major speed increases because of it.

Do you think that will come about with version 10.4?

We'll have to see. Currently, the Objective-C part of XLC is experimental, but they're working on it. Without proper Obj-C support, only smaller parts of the OS can be recompiled.

    Isn't Obj-C first translated to c anyway?

Objective-C was originally precompiled into C (as was C++), but it's had its own compiler in GCC for years and years now.
