MacUser UK: Apple to unveil tablet "today"

The full article is available http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/news_story.php?id=55667]here[/url]. [attr: MacSurfer]

Synopsis: Based "loosely" on the 15" PB, with a pivoting touch screen, and a trackpad and keyboard as fallback. Bundled with AppleWorks 7.

I can scarcely credit this myself, but I'm throwing it out for discussion anyway. Is this a sensible direction for Apple to take? I'm not a fan of the bet-hedging style of tablet, especially not with a fragile hinge involved. On the other hand, I'm not sure that Steve is willing to ship something without a keyboard.

Thoughts?

I say it's a tall tale given the date of the release.

Oh yeah, that's right. It's 4/1 over yonder.

It's still 3/31 here, and I forgot about the time differential. Never mind, then.

With the dearth of rumors abound and macheads looking for every tidbit, my guess is this is just another site aiming to spike up their hit count.

And if you look carefully, it's dated....uhhh April first.

    Nice try.

Hullo, it's April 1st in the UK right now

    But that's just cruel.

Then again why is Apple down?

It seems we all are on "Rumor DEFCON 1" so we can forgive most mistakes.

Probably a joke, but wasn't Apple incorporated on April 1st?

Perhaps there's a small possibility that this could be an anniversary product.

Apple are believed to be working on an iLife update that will enable applications such as GarageBand to be controlled with a finger.

Yeah, I think we're getting the finger.

    Yep, Apple's 28 today.

The problem with the article is that there's nothing that implausible about it (aside from the fact that nobody has yet been able to sell more than 17 tablets in a fiscal year).

The midnight posting time suggests that it's a gag though.

Gotta love "Rumor DEFCON 1." At least it won't kill anyone, unlike the wars in Afghanistan and Irak. \

Happy Valentine's Day, errr, I mean Happy April Fool's... (darn Outkast and that Andre 3000 guy)
