Home design software for OS X?

I'm looking for consumer-grade -- not $1000+ pro software -- for doing floor plans, room layouts, etc. I've seen a number of Windows packages (I even have some old Broderbund software from a few years back), but I haven't been able to find any Mac software, especially OS X software, for doing the same kinds of things.

Is this a neglected area for Mac software, or am I just missing something that's already out there?

I've heard good things about SketchUp. It costs $475.

It looks really cool, but I've never tried it before. There's an 8-hour trial version available for download.

SketchUp *is* really cool... I played around with the demo a while back, and was *highly* impressed. It's a great 3D app.

If you just need 2D layout though, OmniGraffle would probably fit the bill nicely.

SketchUp is da shiznit. Amazingly good aplication. But for more bric-a-brac modeling/planning software, there's also Microspot Interiors. I love SketchUp, but it's maybe a little too open-ended as the ides is that you draw up everything yourself for the most part.

Thanks for the info, everyone. A lot of interesting stuff being mentioned here. SketchUp really looks amazing. But none of the three products mentioned so far quite fits what I'm looking for, like these Windows-only packages do:

SketchUp looks a bit too open-ended, like something where you can make exactly what you want, but you're not going to get a lot of assistance doing it. I certainly don't think SketchUp looks like it will spin out a list of building materials when you're done. Beautiful rendering, however.

The other products, HighDesign and Microspot Interiors, look to me more narrow in focus that what I'm hoping to find, with HighDesign additionally appearing to be more open-ended than I'd like, like SketchUp is.
