why would jaguar Freeze

Hi,



I was using my dual 450 G4 (576MB / 10.2.8) and was running safari and ms word. all of a sudden the entire machine froze for the very first time. no mouse movement, no hd noise - nothing. couldn't force quit any apps - kboard unresponsive. I had to restart on the front of the machine.



does anyone know what could have happened? I thought this wasn't possible under osX?

    It's possible with any OS... just more rare with some than others.

    How long has it been since you did regular system maintenance? It could be that you need to trash your caches, repair permissions...stuffl like that. Just as Kickaha said, it can happen with OS X, it just usually doesn't.

    thanx 4 your replies.



    I don't mind confessing that it really freaked me out! I use macjanitor every week, repair permissions with disk util every 3 or 4 days and run cache out X every 2 weeks.

    I don't install anything I do not need - no system modifications (not even an icon!) apart from system updates, safari, toast, office X and ps 7 and the above this system is the same as when I bought it.
