modem connection failure
folks,
a friend of mine recently updated to 10.3.3. Everything went fine, so far. the update was a real pusher. snappy gui etc. everything without a hutch. but than he tried out his internal modem. the modem connected to the internet, fine, established connection, fine, but than ... identifying, ... identifying and so on and so on. identifying for ever!
console log simply said: "...couldn't register to bla-blas-computer. ... an error(57!) occurred. ..."
thats what i did: repairing permissions, reboot with fsck -y, reboot with original cd, created a test user, trash all cache, pref files, not to mention plist,
the result: NADA everything seems to be in a pretty good shape, really.
everything works fine, but the machine is not able to identifying after establishing an internet con. via modem. seems to be a lame sys error.
that is weird, isn't it?
