Recently, I've noticed that the font in the Message box it all weird.
Look!
I know that I'm on XP and all, but is there any sort of explanation?

there is a pull down menu for font below the text entry field with a few alternate choices
you could always change it to something you prefer

I haven't touched the font code or the reply box code in months.
It's gotta be something on your end.
I think the explanation for this odd behavior, as my Windows-developer roommate so frequently says, is simply "because it's Windows."

The font box doesn't help. It just puts the FONT tags around some text

then it's definitely something on your end.
the Cascading Style Sheet tags for Reply to Topic pages are internal, set as
Code:
<style type="text/css">
body {
font-family : 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
background : #e2e1e1;
text-align : left;
so the font precedence hierarchy should give Lucida if you've got it, if not, Verdana, then Arial, etc.
have you altered the preferences for your browser's default font?
have you changed any of your system fonts for alternate versions?
If, for example, you had Verdana up til last week, and just installed Lucida, or a different variant,
the font might appear to be different now that 'first choice' is available.
installed or altered any apps that promise font smoothing or other display tweaks?

I've used different visual styles, but that shouldn't change the font should it?

Is it the text entry box on AI only, or on other sites too?
