I don't think I ever clicked on the AppleInsider logo.... but this is how I have my forum set up. I think it makes sense. I always just click on the text links (AppleInsider » Suggestions » AI logo on top now leads to main page?)
The top ("home") link going to the forums made sense when this site was the forums. The front page is back, so the "home" link should go to the front page.
Brad will hate me for this, but the number of times I've clicked on that logo expecting to go to the front page...

No, it was a concession that Kasper made. I personally never used the image in question as a link, but this seems to be an acceptable solution to those that did. Brad will probably hate me for saying this as well, but in regards to this argument, I have to side with Amorph.
I'm sorry folks, but I still just don't get it. Having the AppleInsider graphic at the top link to the main site page makes sense. The speed holes linking to the forums while inside the forums is fine.
But what's the problem with clicking the "Forums" link at the top of EVERY PAGE IN APPLEINSIDER? What, do you just want a larger button so you don't have to aim your pointer as carefully? Please, enlighten me.

You've hit the nail on the head. One of the reasons that I like the AI logo going to the forums page was that it provided a large target to go to. That and I could care fucking less what the front page talks about and I sure as hell don't want to give them any clicks after reading the comments in the source. Kasper can go fuck himself!
I guess I'm going to have to retrain my muscle memory to shoot to the top right and not the top left when I want to go back.
It is people resistant to change. People that used it became accustomed to it. People don't like change. From a UI standpoint, it is a bigger target, and that is better.
It's really an artifact of when AI was just the forums.

Yeah, that sounds about right... I've just gotten used to clicking on the big AI text at the top left when I want to go to the main forums page. I do agree that it makes sense to have it go to the AI home page, but... I'd still rather have it the old way

Exactly. And since most of us have been coming here before the UnderLords saw fit to put *anything* on the main page, it's become force-of-habit. I'm not reluctant to change, I'd just like some goddamn warning.

Kasper changed it. I don't like it either.
If you or anyone else that sees this wants it to link back to the forums, please both post here and also send feedback to [email protected].

If that's the case, shouldn't this thread be in:
AppleInsider >> Forums >> Suggestions

Troublemaker. Now you've gone and started giving them more ideas. We'd like to still pretend the front end of AppleInsider doesn't exist, thank you
Code:
<!-- DO NOT CHANGE THIS AGAIN -->
<!-- THERE NEEDS TO BE A WAY FOR MEMBERS TO RETURN TO THE CONTENT -->
<a href="http://www.appleinsider.com/"><img src="images/toolbar_logo_textAI.gif" class="doLeft" alt="AppleInsider" /></a>
<a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/"><img src="images/toolbar_logo_holes.gif" class="doRight" alt="AppleInsider" /></a>
<!-- DO NOT EDIT ABOVE THIS LINE -->
<!-- GO FUCK YOURSELF - The Management -->
looks like they are playing with the banner code too...
and there seems to be a new flash-based ad making the rounds for a windows-only toolbar (Viewpoint)
I can't seem to get rid of it using OW 5b5.... it doesn't show up with proper filtering in safari tho...
and I do like that the AI graphic goes to the real front page now... it makes more sense for the site to behave that way...
