ipod (4th gen.) vs minidisc

Greetings everyone,



I'll go straight to the point :



I'm making music and I need to record hi-fi sound with my microphone.



I really consider buying a minidisc, but i am wondering what are the chances the next generation of ipods will be able to record hi-fi audio with an external mic ?



Because i could do much more with an ipod. And I want one anyways (because i'm tired of that old cd-player). That's why i have been waiting for some time now (instead of buying a minidisc) to see if apple will add this feature.



What is your advice on this case ?

What should I do ?

    How about a portable DAT walkman? Much better than recordable MP3 and you will have a high quality master to burn CDs from too.
