Brother laser prints blank paper.

I just bought new laser printer Brother 1230, and it has been great, but when I bought it I only had two wintel boxis, so I bought the cheaper model with no USB. Now six months later we have three macs. So I would like to know if there is a way to get that printer to work with these macs? When I try to print to it trough windows machine, it only prints blank paper. All my machines are on the same LAN. Thanks and sorry about all the typos.

You'll need a parallel to USB adapter

If you have a spare port on your lan you might want to get a print server. That way all you machines could use the printer with out having to swap cables or move machines around. Most cost $120 - $150 USD.

Yeah, but those drivers doesnt work. I´am starting to think that this printer just simply doesn´t work with macs.

After a bit of digging I found this page.

    http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/macosxstate.htm

At the very bottom of the page, in small print -

    Notes:

    * Printer and MFC models not listed will NOT support Mac OS® X 10.0/ 10.1/ 10.2.

    * The drivers do not support Mac OS® X server.

    * You can use the PostScript Driver supplied with Mac OS® X.

So you will need to use Postscript drivers to make this model work.

Ok, so how do I do that? When I connect the USB cable to my mac and try to add new printer it sees my printer, but it doesnt let me install it. "Driver is not installed..." and I can´t do anything after that. Is it possible to install drivers manually? To tell the installer where to find those drivers or what drivers to use.

Sorry I can not help you there. All the printer I have had Mac drivers. Apple's site did not give a good description on how to install the postscript drivers. Hope someone else can help you.

I finally got it to work. Had to install Gimp-Print, ESPGS, HPIJS-Foomatic, Foomatic for HL-1250 and HL1250 .PPD for HL1230 first, but now it´s working.
