There's a way to change shift and control in X. It has something to do with the fact that it was this way on various, older UNIX machines.

actually ok no, ... when i press either shift or ctrl, my computer inputs shift+ctrl as the input---i know this is not a hardware problem because it happens to my right-hand side shift key also. i'd really appreciate any form of help...
