sound in software

I'm looking for a software that allows your to record my sound in to a small file. More specifically, I want to connect my tape recorder to my computer to record onto my computer. Any one know the best software to do this? I think iMovie takes up to much room. I want something that will allow it to be small file.

    If you have Toast, you can use SpinDoctor.

    Grab a copy of Wiretap or Audio Hijack. You can find both of them at Version Tracker.
