corrupted *.java file??

I was doing some coding in Project builder ( 2.1.. yes an old version).. Anyway, just now I hit into the strange situation that the file went totally corrupted when I saved the file. Could be a file system problem or something.
But anyway.. i can only see a fee lines of code, while it should have been something like 1000+. The file size is reported to be something like 40Kb, and the Project builder editor also report this number. So anyway, any way of getting my code back or do I have to resport to the old&outdated backup??
