Barto started a thread about this a while ago. iVDR is the product of a consortium of 31 manufacturers. Their aim is to create a popular and secure portable HD format. They will use 2.5 and 1.8" drives in nice small shockproof casing. I believe they will initially have 80GB drives available but they expect to have up to 400GB available in 3 years or so. It looks like this

I'm guessing this drive could become popular if they don't price it into the stratoshpere. The small size is going to benefit set top boxes, car audio decks, home audio. Maybe even kickstart off recording video directly to the carts in some time. They don't mention speed however I think that all depens on the drives they use.

Anyone else think this technology might have a chance to change Consumer Electronics?
